Information Technology Division's IT Internship Program
Program with California State University, Fullerton

Los Angeles County Public Works (PW) periodically hires interns in our Information Technology Division (ITD) to help meet peak information technology (IT) programming needs. These interns are hired through an internship program administered by California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). The university provides résumés from applicants with a major/degree in the IT field, such as information systems, computer science, and computer engineering. Selected applicants are employed by California State University, not the County of Los Angeles; however, several former interns have subsequently been hired by PW.

Public Works is interested in student applicants who possess the following desirable qualifications:
  • 3.0 or better grade point average

  • Ability to work well with others in a business environment
  • Specific skills and experience which contribute to a successful applicant include familiarity with desktop software, system analysis, database design, and/or web programming. Interns may also work with internal applications and databases related to finance, mapping, and the environment.
