Project No 450 - Alamitos Bay Pump Station - Discharge Line Replacement

  • Project Scope:
The project includes the following: demolition of the pump station's existing reinforced concrete discharge pipes and replacement with a new buried high-density polyethylene discharge pipe and reinforced concrete outlet structure supported on steel piles, removal of existing roof and replacement with a raised roof, installation of a ceiling-mounted crane system, and other miscellaneous pump station improvements.
  • Project Benefits:
The existing discharge pipes are severely degraded and not fully operational. The project will restore the functionality of the discharge structure and improve flood protection in the community. Also, replacement of the existing open-air discharge pipes with a buried discharge pipe will enhance the aesthetic vistas of the beach and Alamitos Bay shoreline.
  • Community Engagement:
The City of Long Beach is aware of and receptive of the project. The community was able to provide comments during the public review period of the environmental documents. Informational flyers will be distributed during the procurement phase and before the start of construction.
  • Project Location:
    Alamitos Bay, Long Beach
  • Cost Estimate:
The total project budget is currently estimated to be $9M.
  • Economic Impact:
Project construction supports direct and indirect jobs.
