Tujunga Spreading Grounds Intake Improvement Project

Project Scope:The project is Phase II of the larger Tujunga Spreading Grounds Enhancement Project that PW is managing for DWP. The project includes construction of two rubber dams and intake structures in Tujunga Wash Channel.

Project Benefits:The project will complement the recently completed basin improvements in Tujunga Spreading Grounds (i.e., Phase I of the larger Tujunga Spreading Grounds Enhancement Project) and help improve recharge of the San Fernando Valley Groundwater Basin by increasing the intake capacity of Tujunga Spreading Grounds.

Community Engagement:Since 2011, the City, with assistance from the District, has conducted outreach to the City Council Districts 6 and 7 and various neighborhood councils. The last neighborhood council meeting was held on January 8, 2019. Prior to starting construction, flyers providing information about the project were dispersed by Public Works to residents near the project site.
