Mesmer Avenue Community Garden Improvement Project
-
Project Scope:This project will improve the existing community garden to include new native drought-tolerant landscaping, upgraded fencing, enhanced pedestrian circulation features, interpretive and educational signage, and a new shade structure.
-
Project Benefits:This project will improve the aesthetic appeal of the existing garden, while reducing the garden's maintenance needs and water consumption.
-
Community Engagement:Community Outreach to the DRRA included an initial site visit to determine what existing features and landscaping were important to the surrounding residents. The DRRA also provided input on new features they would like to see incorporated, which Public Works assessed the feasibility of. All community input has either been incorporated or appropriately responded to via email.
-
Project Location:This project is located on the northwest corner of Mesmer Avenue and Beatrice Street in the City of Los Angeles. The garden is constructed on a channel overbuild covering a portion of Centinela Creek within an LACFCD owned parcel.
