Marvin Braude Beach Trail Gap Closure

  • Project Scope:
The objective of this project is to construct a 0.6-mile-long path adjacent to the existing bike path to create two separate paths for multiple users. The proposed 14-foot-wide path will be for the bicyclists while the existing bike path will be converted to a pedestrian path to accommodate pedestrians, joggers, and other non-motorized users. A 3-foot-wide buffer is also proposed to separate the two paths.
  • Project Benefits:
This gap closure project will address the inadequate pedestrian facilities along the beach. It will also attract more individuals to engage in active physical activities and connect multiple communities along the path.
  • Community Engagement:
A project information flyer and a pre-construction brochure will be provided just after the project has been awarded and a week prior to start of construction, respectively.
  • Project Location:
The project is located entirely within the City of Los Angeles, continuing the new pedestrian path in the City of Santa Monica further north to the Will Rogers State Beach parking lot.
  • Cost Estimate:
Total Project: $6,000,000 Construction: $3,950,000 Grant Funds: $2,036,000
  • Economic Impact:
Project construction supports 43 direct and indirect jobs.
