Carmenita Rd and Telegraph Rd Intersection Improvements

Project Scope:The primary objective of this project is to improve traffic flow through the intersection as identified in the SR-91/I-605/I-405 Hot Spots Arterial Intersection Study completed in 2012: - Extend length of left-turn lanes at the east and west approaches to the intersection. - Add a third through lane at the south approach to the intersection.

Project Benefits:The project seeks to increase the capacity of the intersection in advance of Caltrans' planned widening of the I-605 freeway.

Community Engagement:A project information flyer and a pre-construction brochure will be provided just after the project has been awarded and a week prior to start of construction, respectively.

Project Location:Unincorporated County community of South Whittier and the City of Santa Fe Springs.

Cost Estimate:- Total Project: $3,500,000 - Construction: $2,020,000 - Grant Funds: $3,100,000

Economic Impact:Project construction supports 12 direct and indirect jobs.

- Advertise for Construction Bids – Aug 2022
- Start of Construction – May 2023
