Vermont Avenue Pedestrian Improvements

Project Scope:The improvements include construction of concrete pavers in parkways, median, and at bus stops; decorative crosswalk; pedestrian lights at bus stops; wayfinding signage; curb extensions (bulb-outs); planting 109 drought-tolerant trees; upgraded curb ramps; upgraded traffic signals, including pedestrian features and rapid flashing beacons at the intersections of Vermont Avenue with west 110th Street and west 112th Street.

Project Benefits:This project will improve access for pedestrians and transit users to Metro Green Line Vermont/Athens Station.

Community Engagement:A project information flyer and a pre-construction brochure will be provided after the project has been awarded and three weeks prior to start of construction, respectively.

Project Location:Unincorporated County communities of Westmont and Athens. - Vermont Avenue from 108th St to 122nd St.

Cost Estimate:Estimated Total Project Cost: $9,200,000 - $6,080,000 (Contract Cost) - $765,000 (Metro Call for Projects) - $1,626,000 (Metro ExpressLanes Net Toll Revenue Reinvestment Grant)

Economic Impact:Project construction supports 69 direct and indirect jobs.
