Willowbrook 2 Project (AHSC)

  • Project Scope:
    The project includes installation of bike lanes/routes; lane reduction; upgraded curb ramp; curb extensions (bulb-outs) with landscaping; decorative crosswalk and sidewalk enhancements; new and improved site furnishings (bus stop shelters/benches, trash receptacles, and pedestrian lighting); traffic signal upgrades with new pedestrian features; planting approximately 135 drought-tolerant trees and wayfinding signage.
  • Project Benefits:
    This project will improve access for pedestrians and transit users to Metro Blue Line Rosa Park Station.
  • Community Engagement:
    An in-person community outreach event was held on 4/27/23 at Magic Johnson Park Recreation Center. Door hangers were passed to residences within project limits ahead of event. A project information flyer and a pre-construction brochure will be provided after the project has been awarded and three weeks prior to start of construction, respectively.

  • Cost Estimate:
    Estimated Total Project Cost: $6,600,000 - $1,207,000 (Measure R, through Second Supervisorial District's Transportation Improvement Program) - $3,206,000 (Affordable Housing and Sustainable Community - Cycle 3 Grant)
  • Economic Impact:
    Project construction supports 47 direct and indirect jobs.
  • Schedule:
    - Advertise for Construction – May 2023
    - Start of Construction – Jan 2024
    - End of Construction – May 2025
