Broadway-Normandie-Rosecrans Traffic Signal Safety Project

  • Project Scope:
    The objective of this project consists of various traffic signal improvements, including upgrading standards, mast arms, protected-permissive left-turn phasing, vehicle heads, bicycle and vehicle detection, ADA access ramps, communication, and other associated equipment.
  • Project Benefits:
    When properly used, traffic signals are valuable devices for the control of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. They provide for the orderly movement of traffic and may reduce the frequency and severity of certain type of collisions. This traffic signal upgrade project will also enhance pedestrian safety and provide accessible route with ADA compliance for pedestrians use.
  • Community Engagement:
    A project information flyer and a pre-construction brochure will be provided shortly after the project has been awarded and a week prior to start of construction, respectively.
  • Project Location:
    This project is located in the City/county shared-jurisdiction locations in the Athens-Westmont, East Rancho Dominguez, West Carson, Compton and Willowbrook areas (Broadway at El Segundo Bl, Broadway at Rosecrans Av, Normandie Av at 104th St, Normandie Av at 228th St, and Rosecrans Av at Atlantic Av).
  • Cost Estimate:
    Total Project: $6,300,000 Construction: $3,230,000
  • Economic Impact:
    Project construction supports 40.05 direct and indirect jobs.
  • Schedule:
    - Final Plans – Oct 2024
    - Advertise for Construction Bids – Feb 2026
    - Start of Construction – Mar 2027
