Cogswell Reservoir Post-Fire Emergency Restoration Project

  • Project Scope:
    This project will remove approximately 2.0 million cubic yards of sediment and debris from Cogswell Reservoir. All removed sediment will be placed at the adjacent Cogswell Sediment Placement Site, located south of the reservoir.
  • Project Benefits:
    This project will restore the reservoir's storage and flood control capacity. This project will also restore the reservoir's water conservation capabilities and preserve operability of the dam's flood control valves.
  • Community Engagement:
    Cogswell Reservoir is well inside the Angeles National Forest. Coordination with the U.S. Forest Service occurred during project onset and continues. No residential/commercial/industrial communities affected by the project.
  • Project Location:
    Cogswell Reservoir is located in the San Gabriel Mountains within the Angeles National Forest
  • Cost Estimate:

  • Economic Impact:
    Project construction supports direct and indirect jobs.
  • Schedule:
    - Advertise for Construction – Jan 2021
    - Start of Construction – Mar 2021
    - End of Construction – Sep 2025
