Environmental Defenders – Inspires K-5 students to take actions and do more to protect the environment.
Food DROP – Connects food generating businesses with food recovery agencies to donate their excess edible food.
Generation Earth – Helps 6-12 students explore waste, water, and forestry topics in a fun and engaging way.
LACFRI – Provides resources about Share Tables and food donations at schools.
School Garden Program – Teaches kids how to conserve natural resources and help the environment by starting their own garden at school.
Model Programs
Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) has a Recycle Plan with a Green Team to educate students and make recycling a lifelong habit.
LA Sanitation and LAUSD Recycling Program provides free recycling services to all elementary LAUSD and charter campuses within the City of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD)’s “Healthy Students, Healthy Families, Healthy Communities” Food Donation Program partners with all approved non-profit organizations.
Loyola Marymount University (LMU) adopted and implemented numerous sustainable practices on its campus. It teaches students to recycle food waste and learn about LMU’s organic waste diversion systems.
Manhattan Beach Unified School District (MBUSD) had one of the nation’s first ever “Green Ribbon Schools” and most MBUSD schools have implemented in-class composting, recycling, and e-waste recycling programs.
