San Gabriel Valley Airport Projects

Overview

Apron Pavement Crack & Slurry Seal [Design & Construction]

The project includes the design and construction for the crack sealing, patching, and slurry seal of approximately 16 acres of ramp/apron area pavements. The estimated cost for design and construction is $2.6 million.

Current Status:

• Received FAA Airport Improvement Grant in the amount of $1,497,535
• Tenant meetings held on February 7, 2024, June 10, 2025, November 13, 2025, and May 13, 2026
• Design work was completed in January 2026
• Construction planned for fall 2026

Runway and Taxiway Pavement Rehabilitation [Design]

The project includes the design for the rehabilitation of pavements for Runway 1/19, the reconstruction of pavements for Taxiways A, B, C, E, and F, and the reconfiguring of Taxiway D to meet current Federal Aviation Administration design standards. The estimated cost for design is $830,000.

Current Status:

• Received FAA Airport Improvement Grant in the amount of $750,000
• Received Caltrans Airport Improvement Program matching grant of $37,500
• Tenant meetings held on February 7, 2024, June 10, 2025, November 13, 2025, and May 13, 2026
• Design work was completed in January 2026
• Construction planned for fall/winter 2027-2028; estimated to cost $12 million

New Airport Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) [Non-ACIP Project]

The Federal Aviation Administration has been provided funding through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Air Traffic Facilities Program to design a new and modern ATCT facility to replace the current facility at the airport.

Current Status:

• The FAA completed its initial site selection/evaluation.
• No updates from the FAA on timing for construction.
