Boil Water Notice Lifted for LA County Waterworks Customers in Malibu - LA County Public Works

State declares water supply safe for drinking.

MALIBU, CA (August 8, 2025)—Los Angeles County Waterworks District No. 29 (Malibu) has officially canceled the Boil Water Notice for its customers in portions of Malibu.

After comprehensive testing, LA County Waterworks District No. 29, in conjunction with the State Water Resources Control Board, has determined that the water is safe to drink; it is no longer necessary to boil tap water before use.

Customers are advised to complete the following steps prior to water use:

  1. Flush outdoor hose spigots  Turn on each spigot for at least 2 minutes, or until the water runs clear.
  2. Flush indoor faucets and fixtures  Run both cold and hot water from all faucets (sinks, showers, tubs, etc.) for at least 2 minutes, or until the water runs clear.
  3. Discard any ice  Throw out any ice made with tap water during the boil water notice period.
