Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question:
The owner of this residence wants to build a bathroom addition. Which Dept. of Bldg. and Safety would process the permit? And is a survey and soils report required?

Thanks.

Answer:
Please visit the Building and Safety Calabasas/Malibu District Office indicated below to obtain plan approval and permits for the project proposed, a plan checker will inform you of specific requirements for final approval.

In areas of questionable geologic or soil stability the Building and Safety Division may require a review by the Geotechnical and Materials Engineering Division. Therefore, geotechnical or soil reports may be requested.
