Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question:
Do you accept old fire extinguishers (these are stored in my garage) at the hazardous waste collection location in Playa Del Rey?

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. We commend your efforts in helping to improve our environment.

Fire extinguishers are considered hazardous waste and accepted at our Household Hazardous/Electronic Waste Collection Events and also at City of Los Angeles' five permanent collection centers(includes Playa Del Rey).

County's roundups are held during the year in various locations throughout Los Angeles County and are free and convenient ways for residents to dispose of their unwanted HHW/E-Waste (also includes paint, solvents, chemicals, TVs, computers, antifreeze, etc).

The County has also partnered with the City of Los Angeles to allow all Los Angeles County residents to drop off HHW/E-Waste at five permanent collection centers located within the City of Los Angeles. Visit the 888CleanLA website to find out where.
