Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question:
How is groundwater reached?

Answer:
Surface water that does not run off can be infiltrated or percolated into the groundwater table by action of gravity. Other sources of infiltration or percolation can come from streamflow, lakes, reservoirs, and seawater intrusion. The rate of infiltration will vary depending on several factors, including local hydrogeologic conditions.
