Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question:
How do SUSMP and construction activity BMPs differ?

Answer:
BMPs associated with Standard Urban Stormwater Mitigation Plans are different from BMPs associated with construction activities. Construction BMPs are focused on minimizing erosion and preventing runoff, sedimentation, and related building material from entering water bodies. Construction BMPs are usually considered 'short-term,' that is, for the life of the construction project.

On the other hand, Standard Urban Stormwater Mitigation Plan BMPs, also known as "post construction" BMPs, are meant to be a permanent part of the new development or redevelopment for the life of the project, and to minimize stormwater pollutants related to the land use from entering water bodies.
