Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question:
How long is a Building application plan check good for?

Answer:
A plan check application submitted to the Building and Safety Division is good for one year following the initial plan check submittal date. If a building permit is not obtained within that time, the plan check will expire. You may request an extension of 180 days by submitting a written request prior to expiration and paying an extension fee equal to 25% of the original plan check fee. A maximum of two extensions may be permitted. Please contact your local district office for further information.

Once a plan check and any extensions have expired, the applicant shall resubmit plans and pay a new plan check fee.
