Stage 3 of construction along Tujunga Avenue from south of Goss Street to south of Penrose Street is ongoing. The work includes shoring, excavation, installation of 96" Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP), backfill and compaction.
April 2022
Street restoration and base paving work for Stages 1 and 2 areas are complete. Stage 3 work involving pavement removal and shoring piles installation is in progress.
March 2022
Stage 2 Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) installation is complete. The next stage of RCP installation will require a change in traffic control configuration. Street restoration work is continuing with new paving placed on northbound Tujunga Avenue lanes.
February 2022
Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) placement has progressed to Stage 2, south of Goss Street. Concrete placement for the transition structure between the RCP and Reinforced Concrete Box (RCB) is complete and backfilling is in progress. Street surface repair work and paving for Stages 1 and 2 areas will start soon.
January 2022
Installation of the Reinforced Concrete Box (RCB) Culvert has been completed. The Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) installation is continuing and complete to about 500 feet south of Goss Street. Construction of the transition structure between the RCB and RCP has started and is in progress. A sewer bypass system has been implemented since the transition structure crosses under an existing sewer main line. The bypass system ensures continued service and prevents spills in case of accidental damage to the sewer line during construction.
December 2021
The Reinforced Concrete Box (RCB) construction and backfill has been completed. Excavation, installation, and backfilling of the 96” Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) is ongoing. The transition structure between the RCB and RCP will start construction soon.

The Reinforced Concrete Box (RCB) installation is mostly complete and backfilling will begin soon. The 96" Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) work, which includes shoring, excavation, pipe installation, backfill and shoring removal is ongoing.
June 2021
Construction started on 6/17/21. Work in this update involved the CCTV inspection of the underground sewer pipes, set up of traffic control measures (including signage and restriping), removal of pavement and excavation of the street, and placing of steel piles and other bracing measures to ensure street stability.
