About Us
The mission of the STEAM Outreach Program (Program) is to motivate our next generation to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). In 2015, the program was developed to bridge the gap between today's students and our own successful technical professionals. Recognizing the need for competitiveness of qualified professionals in STEAM fields, the Program will raise students' awareness of technical careers and motivate them to build a solid foundation in math, science, and technology.
The Program provides opportunities for our employees to visit educational institutions to make presentations related to their fields. Public Works' employees have experience in the design, construction, and operation of roads, traffic signals, bridges, airports, sewers, water supply, flood control, water quality, and water conservation facilities. Presenters are able to give hands-on accounts of the projects that they have worked on and how they have a positive impact on people's daily lives. By describing the excitement and challenges of their work, presenters will inspire youth to pursue STEAM fields.
