Funding Selections: WASTE - Waste Analysis and Strategies for Transportation End-Uses
Nine projects across six states have been selected for $6.9 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Energy's Bioenergy Technologies Office and Vehicle Technologies Office. The projects will use advanced technologies to create low-carbon transportation biofuels from solid waste. Three of the projects are located in California including the Organic Waste Energy Conversion project in Reedley, California. This project will use anaerobic digestion to process food, green and agricultural wastes into renewable transportation fuel. For more information, click here.
California Treatment Plant Moves to Co-Digestion
The Monterey One Water Regional Treatment Plant located in Marina, California has contracted with Anaergia to upgrade an existing biosolids anaerobic digester to co-digest food and other organic wastes. The project will be funded with United States Environmental Protection Agency grant funds awarded in 2023. The facility is expected to process as much as 50,000 tons per year of organic waste which will produce up to 100,000 million BTUs per year of renewable natural gas. For more information, click here.
Synthica Energy Names Clark Water as Construction Partner for Georgia RNG Facility
Synthica Energy has contracted with Clark Water for the construction of a new 10-acre anaerobic digestion facility in Georgia. The facility is currently under construction and is expected to start operations in 2026. It is projected to divert 250,000 tons of organic waste from local landfills each year and produce renewable natural gas.
