Biofuel Company Plans to Bring Industrial Site to LAC
EcoTech Biofuels plans to bring its biofuel processing site to Las Animas County, Colorado. The company's project would remove an estimated 500 tons per day of fire-prone biomass, primarily sourced from the Rio Grande National Forest to produce 1,150 barrels of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). EcoTech's gasification technology is a closed-loop process that works by feeding the generated greenhouse gases to specialized algae. These algae serve as a soil amendment that can be applied to burn scar areas, thereby supporting reforestation efforts, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and mitigating fire hazards. Sevana Bioenergy Acquires California RNG Project
On June 10, Sevana Bioenergy announced the acquisition of the Rialto Bioenergy Facility, a renewable natural gas (RNG) plant in Rialto, California, previously owned by Anaergia Inc. According to Sevana, the facility can process 1,000 tons of waste per day, including food waste from municipal solid waste as well as biosolids. The plant's anaerobic digesters could yield up to 1 million MMBtu annually of carbon-negative RNG and soil products, with the resulting RNG being injected into the Southern California Gas Co.'s pipeline network. Sevana Bioenergy aims to leverage its operational expertise to gradually increase throughput and RNG production at the facility, integrating the Rialto facility into its existing portfolio of anaerobic digestion facilities.
