SoCalGas Announces Support for Public Utilities Commission Creation of Biomethane Incentive Reservation System
Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) announced support for the new Incentive Reservation System for the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) biomethane monetary incentive program.  The system aims to increase transparency about available funding for biomethane projects in the state, allowing developers to gain a level of certainty that the funding they applied for will be there at the end of the project. Currently, there is about $32 million in funding available which will be distributed on a first come, first served basis to biomethane developers through December 31, 2026 or until the money runs out, whichever occurs first. Athens Works to Meet CAs Organic Waste Diversion Goals
The state of California has set targets to reduce organic waste disposal 50 percent by 2020 and 75 percent by 2025 and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 40 percent by 2030. Athens Services is meeting the challenge at its City of Industry Materials Recovery Faculty with a machine called an Organic Separation Press (OSP). The OSP squeezes the liquid from organic waste into a collection tank that is then shipped to a treatment facility to be digested for energy production or composted to return nutrients to California farm fields. Bioenergy DevCo Advances Expansion Plans
Bioenergy DevCo (BDC) is building an anaerobic digester at a composting site in Delaware to service the Maryland Food Center, one of the largest food terminals on the East Coast. The digester will process 100,000 tons of food waste per year to generate renewable natural gas, heat, power and an organic soil amendment. BDC is currently working to permit a digester in Cecil County, Delaware that is estimated to manage about 70,000 to 100,000 tons per year of food and agricultural waste. To read more, click here.

Muscatine Organics Recycling Center Will Soon Offer a New Solution to a Landfill Sized-Issue
The Muscatine Organics Recycling Center has started using a new machine, the Scott Equipment T42 Turbo Separator, to separate food waste from plastic packaging. The T42 uses centrifugal force to separate the two, with the food waste dropping into a container and the packaging being spit back out. The food waste is then processed by anaerobic digestion to produce fertilizer and renewable natural gas. The T42 Turbo is self-funded by tipping fees and the costs of the machine will be recovered after about four or five years. To read more, click here.

Xebec Announces Its First Canadian Renewable Natural Gas Infrastructure Project
Xebec Adsorption Inc., a global provider of clean energy solutions, has signed an agreement with Bhler Biogas Inc. to develop an integrated facility in Quebec to process various organic wastes. This facility will process over 45,000 metric tons of organic waste per year through anaerobic digestion and produce 150,000 gigajoules of renewable natural gas and 7,500 metric tons of biofertilizer annually. Tech Developer, Hauler Team to Turn Medical Waste into Energy
Companies Boson Energy and Mount Vernon have partnered to develop medical waste management infrastructure, with plans to take medical wastes of all types and turn it into a resource. Plasma gasification technology will be used to convert mixed, hazardous and medical wastes to power, heat and cooling. To read more, click here.

Van Dyk Completes Installation at Fulcrum BioEnergy Plant
Van Dyk Recycling Solutions announced it has completed the construction of Fulcrums Sierra BioFuels Plant, which recovers organic material from municipal solid waste (MSW) and turns it into transportation fuels such as jet fuel and diesel. The plant includes a feedstock processing facility and a biorefinery. The feedstock is gasified and converted into liquid fuel. The biorefinery will convert approximately 175,000 tons of MSW into 10.5 million gallons of fuel each year. To read more, click here.
