These workshops provide the opportunity to stay informed about local environmental issues, network and collaborate with colleagues, share experiences and gain valuable educational resources. It’s not time for gloom and doom, it’s time for action! There is no single solution to address climate change, but there are ways we can make small changes to alter our behaviors which are undermining the future of this planet. Join us to explore how project-based learning utilizes Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) to empower students to take action on waste, water and health issues stemming from climate change.

This two-day professional development training offers a unique opportunity for teachers to connect, be inspired, and feel reenergized. The Summer Institute focuses on the powerful role environmental service learning can play in tackling local environmental challenges by empowering students to take action. In addition to inspiring and thoughtful workshops on sustainable waste and water management solutions, attendees will enjoy an exclusive field trip to the Ballona Wetlands, a resource fair featuring a variety of environmental and educational organizations, and plenty of opportunities for networking and growth.
