Summer Institute

The 2023 Summer Institute was held at the La Brea Tar Pits on June 28 and 29. This two-day professional development training offered a unique opportunity for teachers to connect, be inspired, and feel reenergized about their powerful impact. The Summer Institute focused on the powerful role student action and environmental service learning can play in tackling local environmental challenges. In addition to thought-provoking school activity demonstrations on sustainable waste and water management solutions, attendees enjoyed an exclusive field trip to the Ballona Wetlands and trash Interceptor 007, a resource fair featuring a variety of environmental and educational organizations, and plenty of opportunities for networking and growth.
