EAA 96 Fly In and Model Expo September 27, 2014
Have you ever seen the wonderment in a child’s eye when they notice a bird or plane for the first time? Maybe you were that child? For those of us in aviation, we understand that feeling and the freedom of flight.
In a time where children need direction and mentoring, we have designed a unique event which takes us back to the fundamentals. The Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 96 is hosting the EAA 96 Fly-In and Model Expo on September 27, 2014 at Compton Airport.
This event will engage the young and older in a day of flying no other area airport can offer. Five hours of radio control (R/C) aircraft flying from beginning to giant scale (10’ wingspans) and jets will fill the skies in non-stop action. Control line aircraft will be available as well. Attendees will have an opportunity to fly one through a supervised training system. Youngsters 10 and under will build gliders and compete for “longest flight”.
During the day, R/C vendors will be present offering their products and services to assist interested attendees on how to get into the sport. Aircraft owners and pilots will be available to share how they got into aviation.
This is a family event and inexpensive in lean economic times. Given the unique aspects, and desire of local families to participate, we anticipate a large crowd.
We are seeking sponsorship, vendors and guests to share a day of aviation. All sponsors will be appropriately recognized.
Kids under 10 are free! Ten and older are only $3.
