Information

Welcome Aboard! There are three different lines in the El Sol Shuttle service which cover East Los Angeles. The service has a timed transfer point at the East Los Angeles Civic Center where patrons can transfer among the three shuttle lines. These uniquely designed lines enable residents to take advantage of existing public services within their community and conveniently connect to various regional bus and rail services. Destinations served by the shuttle include shopping areas on Cesar Chavez Avenue, Whittier Boulevard, and the Commerce Shopping Center. Specific locations include:

  • Roybal Comprehensive Health Center
  • California State University of Los Angeles
  • East Los Angeles Community College

The initial service began June 5, 2000, providing three one-way circular lines. The ridership of the program steadily increased as the service became better known within the community. Expansion was necessary to maintain the goal of improving mobility within the community. On Friday, November 3, 2000, the service expanded by including two-way service on each of the lines.

Recognized for its unique and quality service, the shuttle service received the 2001 Los Angeles County Quality and Productivity Commission’s Top Ten Award, the 2001 Access Services’ Spirit of Accessibility Award, and the 2001 National Association of Counties’ Achievement Award.
