Bag Summit
- On December 15, 2010 various city officials gathered at Los Angeles County Public Works building for a Day Without a Bag Summit. This free, half-day tutorial provided a step-by-step guide on how to lay out a municipal plan to reduce single use bag consumption. Local policy makers, community advocates, and environmental group representatives provided real-life case studies and in-the-trenches advice on how to:
- Draft bag-reduction ordinances
- Spot legal challenges
- Create persuasive message points and action plans that will generate public buy-in
- Secure effective support from local businesses and other community partners
- Create buzz in the local press and on social media networks
