Lincoln Ave. Bridge in Altadena Closed for Urgent Repairs - LA County Public Works

Media & News

ALTADENA, CA (May 17, 2025)—The Lincoln Ave. Bridge in Altadena is closed for critical safety repairs. Los Angeles County Public Works announced the closure at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, following a post-fire inspection that revealed structural deterioration.

The bridge, which had a 7-ton load restriction imposed after the Eaton Fire, exhibited new cracking, delamination, and spalling at both ends of the arch. In the interest of public safety, LA County Public Works structural engineers closed access to the bridge on Lincoln Ave. between W. Altadena Dr. and W. Palm St.

“Public safety is our top priority,” said Mark Pestrella P.E., Director of Los Angeles County Public Works. “We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we work urgently to install a temporary bridge that will restore full access to the roadway and support ongoing recovery efforts in the area.”

Traffic detours have been established, and motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and avoid the area if possible during bridge repairs. The temporary bridge is expected to be completed by the end of September to ensure residents and motorists have access to state-of-the-art transportation infrastructure that is safe, resilient, sustainable, and equitable.
