Pre-Approved ADU Standard Plans
Under the Pre-Approved ADU Standard Plans Program, homeowners will be able to select an ADU Standard Plan that are pre-approved by both Los Angeles County Regional Planning and Public Works Building and Safety for compliance with the Building, Residential, and Green Codes. The goal is to expedite the County review and approval process for homeowners seeking to create a new secondary dwelling unit.
Please note that these pre-approved ADU Standard Plans shall require an approved site -specific plot plan from Regional Planning to match the specific site. For information on ADU regulations, requirements, and other resources, visit Regional Planning ADU Page .
Special Note on Plan Modifications
These Pre-approved ADU Standard Plans cannot be revised and must be permitted as designed. The ADU's may be oriented in any direction and floor plans may be mirrored (flipped). Any changes to these pre-approved plans are not allowed. For more information on alternative options, please schedule a Virtual Online Appointment or visit one of the local Building and Safety District Offices serving unincorporated communities to discuss your project.

NOW AVAILABLE! Pre-Approved ADU Standard Plans
The following pre-approved ADU Standard Plans are owned by the Los Angeles County and may be used by homeowners free of charge. Please note that the pre-approved Standard Plans may not be approved for use in certain situations and/or site conditions:
- Standard ADU Plan A (1,200 square feet - 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom)
- Standard ADU Plan B (1,200 square feet - 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom)
- Standard ADU Plan C (800 square feet - 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom)
Additional ADU Standard Plans designed and owned by local design firms to be pre-approved by Los Angeles County Regional Planning and Public Works Building and Safety will be made available to the public in the future. Homeowners may contact the design firms and purchase directly from the plan owner.
