Puente Creek Bikeway and Greenway Project

Connecting Communities, Expanding Options

Los Angeles County Public Works, in partnership with Los Angeles County Flood Control District (LACFCD), and local communities, is creating the Puente Creek Bikeway and Greenway project that will link Valinda, La Puente, and the City of Industry. Designed for both recreation and everyday travel, the bikeway will offer safe, family-friendly paths while revitalizing the natural environment along Puente Creek.


Project Summary

The Puente Creek Bikeway and Greenway Project serves as one of the Early Implementation Projects of the San Gabriel Valley Greenway Network (SGVGN) Strategic Implementation Plan. To learn more about the SGVGN Plan, please visit Homepage – San Gabriel Valley Greenway.

Schedule

  • Final Design: Fall 2026
  • Advertise for Construction Bids: Fall 2026
  • Construction Start: Spring 2027

Description

The project will include:

  • 1.8 miles of new bike path along Puente Creek (Hacienda Blvd. to Del Valle Ave., and Echelon Ave. to Rimgrove Dr.)
  • 1 mile of bike routes on Rimgrove Dr. (Puente Creek to Witzman Dr.), Witzman Dr. (Rimgrove Dr. to Amar Rd.) and Loukelton St. (Del Valle Ave. to Echelon Ave.)
  • A new pedestrian signal crossing at Valinda Ave.
  • Raised crosswalks and curb ramps at intersections for improved safety and accessibility.

Greenway Enhancements

  • Native and drought-tolerant landscaping
  • New welded wire fencing and decorative wrought iron access gates
  • Wayfinding signage
  • A rest area near Valinda Ave. with seating, a trellis, pet waste stations, and trash receptacles

Key Features

  • Safe and accessible bike and multi-use paths with landscaping along Puente Creek
  • A designated bike route connecting neighborhoods to schools, parks, and businesses via Rimgrove Dr. and Witzman Dr.
  • Improved crossings with pedestrian safety features and ADA-compliant curb ramps
