County of Los Angeles Departmental Recycling Program

Clothing Donation Program

As Public Works strives for a Sustainable Waste Management Future, we have introduced an Employee Clothing Donation Pilot Program to spearhead the efforts of waste diversion and to educate our employees about the long-term effects of the improper disposal of clothing.

We want to divert usable clothing from landfills while building strong community partnerships with organizations such as Clothes the Deal who provides low-income men, women, at-risk youth, and U.S. Veterans with professional business attire to empower them when seeking employment.

Through this program, Public Works’ employees are assisting Los Angeles County’s most vulnerable population by providing them clothing through a non-profit agency, Clothes the Deal. Clothes the Deal works with many agencies including, the County Departments of Education and Public Social Services to provide interview attire to participants seeking employment.

With our continued success, we hope our program may serve as a model to other departments and agencies as we work together to fight for our planet Earth!
