Events and Activities

Overview

The County’s five general aviation airports facilitate and host numerous events and activities throughout the year, which benefit our local communities. While many of the events are airport or aviation related, others promote local businesses or non-profit organizations and provide community services such as e-Waste recycling or holiday toy giveaway events.

Aircraft display days are free to the public and are typically held monthly at each airport. Airport open house events, typically held yearly at each airport, are free to the public and offer local food, live music, auto shows, and are an opportunity to learn more about each airport.

To host an event at one of the County airports, please contact the airport manager to discuss opportunities and requirements for doing so.

Airport Events

Annual Air Fair Events 

Airport Air Fair / Open House events, typically held each year at some of the airports, are free to the public and offer the opportunity for all to learn more about the airport and general aviation while enjoying static aircraft displays, presentations and exhibitions from local organizations, food and beverages, live music and entertainment, booths with local vendors or businesses seeking employees, educational facilities or other organizations promoting their programs, and much more!

Aircraft Display Days 

One day of every month, many of the County airports host an Aircraft Display Day where owners of vintage or rare aircraft exhibit their aircraft for public viewing. Aviation enthusiasts can view the airplanes up close and speak with the aircraft owners to learn more about the airplanes, the airports, and general aviation. The events, which are free to the public, are typically held at the airports and on the days listed below. See the Events and Activities calendar for confirmation of dates and times. 

Brackett Field Airport – Typically held the third Sunday of each month, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

Compton/Woodley Airport – Not regularly scheduled. 

General Wm. J. Fox Airfield – Not regularly scheduled. 

San Gabriel Valley Airport – Typically held the last Sunday of each month, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

Whiteman Airport – Typically held the second Sunday of each month, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Airport Tours and School Presentations

Airport management offers in-person tours of the airports or to conduct off-airport visits for local schools, youth organizations such as the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, professional organizations, and civic groups that want to learn more about the airports and aviation in general.
